About the piece
This is amber rough. It has not been carved or polished. The outer skin is the natural crust the stone formed underground over millions of years. The interior catches honey-gold light when held against the sun.
The story
Some collectors prefer rough over finished pieces. There is something to be said for keeping a stone the way it came out of the ground. In Eastern collecting tradition, an untouched rough is sometimes seen as more honest than a polished one. It has not been changed for the buyer.
